What is the best dental plan in New York for braces

My teenage son will be needing braces. I need to get a dental plan in place now in case it has waiting periods.  My dentist told us that he should get braces with in the next year or two for sure.  I want to get the best dental plan in New York for braces. One that is hopefully low cost so we can afford to get it.  Please advise.

Well low cost plans that would help you save money off of any type of braces regardless of age would be your dental discount plans.
Also on a dental discont plan you would not have to worry about waiting periods letting you buy the plan when needed. Instead of paying high monthly premiums for a year or more before they would even start to offer coveages for braces.
However on a dental discount plan you do need to go to dentist that are in the network so that is something to keep in mind when shopping one out.

I have an HMO dental plan for my family and it is a low cost dental plan that has orthodontic coverages for children.
I have not a need for it right now thank goodness but there was no waiting periods either if I did need to have one of my children in braces.
So if you want insurance maybe look towards an HMO dental plan.
